This bespoke programme again delivered weekly to local families into their homes and also delivered as informal sessions now at several of our local primary schools is focused on health and wellbeing.
Our trained staff and volunteer Mentors work alongside families looking at diet and nutrition, eating on a low income, budget and meal planning and increasing activities to improve physical health. In addition to this we are also delivering focused support for those displaying mental health issues, low mood, anxiety, panic disorder and recovering from domestic abuse. We actively work with women during the perinatal period.
We are now in the fourth year of a five year programme currently funded by the Big Lottery. Statistically we have seen very positive changes to families and hopefully this early preventative support and advice will reduce the need for NHS treatment and care as the family age.
We are seeing families who took little care around diet or eating regularly with healthier meals now gradually changing their approach and taking more responsibility for their health and that of their child/children.
